Day 1- Ring

The girls' spirits formed a ring and gracefully floated among the stars.

Day 2- Mindless

The girl mindlessly gazed ahead, her eyes empty.

Day 3- Bait

The multitude of mice reveled in their knowledge that they were taunting the large striped snake, but how could they be sure the snake wouldn't rise to the bait?

Day 4- Freeze

Talk about some serious brain freeze.

Day 5- Build

They tirelessly worked to build the perfect house among the trees.

Day 6- Husky

These corn-husking huskies howl in the wind.

Day 7- Enchanted

The enchanted fruits hopped about, eager to see what mischief they could make.

Day 8- Frail

This poor frail little spider is patiently waiting for an unsuspecting insect to fall into its trap.

Day 9- Swing

Kitty wants to be brighter than the moon. He perches on his swing in the night and peers into the distance.

Day 10- Pattern

A stripey raccoon stands under a redwood tree unaware. Windmills turn. Fish gasp. Stars shine. Fog rolls by. People keep moving. Days keep passing by.

Day 11- Snow

The ever-elusive snow leopard DESPISES snow. His paws are always cold. What's a cat to do?

Day 12- Dragon

Belle so badly wanted to be a fierce and fire-breathing dragon, but there wasn't a mean bone in her body. She would have to settle for a goofy dragon costume instead.

Day 13- Ash

Her already pale face had turned ashen. It looked like she had seen a ghost!

Day 14- Overgrown

The creature stealthily navigated through the overgrown foliage, well aware it was expertly camouflaged.

Day 15- Legend

The girl stumbled into a clearing in the forest and happened upon a massive creature. So the legends were true! The giant seemed to attempt to ease her anxiety by gesturing to the mushrooms on the forest floor. It was just foraging!

Day 16- Wild

The wild beasts raced through the trees, leaves blowing in their wake.

Day 17- Ornament

The girl just wanted to ornament her tree with holiday appropriate decorations. It is only October, after all!

Day 18- Misfit

The clowder of cats were warned that the misfit opossums were not to be trusted. The cats were curious though...were they really that different? They all lived under the same sun.

Day 19 - Sling

On Saturday mornings, nothing brings Cat greater joy than slinging breakfast for all his fuzzy friends.

Day 20- Tread

The other opossums waited for the third to quit playing dead and finish scurrying across the street, however they didn't understand that his middle had been smushed under the tread of a car!

Day 21- Treasure

Cat treasured his mouse. He loved watching him scurry. You can imagine his dismay when his little mouse stopped scurrying because Cat played a little too hard with Mouse.

Day 22- Ghost

Cat was broken-hearted without Mouse. It seemed he just couldn't go on because one morning, he just dropped dead. His lonely ghost rose from his body.

Day 23- Ancient

Cat dreamt of ancient times when humans worshiped the cat. That's how it should be! He wondered who he could find to feed him sardines and scratch his chin.

Day 24- Dizzy

Opossum always wanted to be a ballerina. Everyone laughed at him and told him that marsupials are NOT ballerina material. He was determined to prove them wrong and practiced his pirouettes until he was too dizzy to stand.

Day 25- Tasty

Fish has been dreaming of his tasty fish flakes. It is really all he has to look forward to in his fishbowl. Is it almost dinnertime?? Meanwhile, Cat is patiently waiting for the perfect moment to scoop up Fish. He is in the mood for a special treat.

Day 26- Dark.

The forest animals warned her not to enter the forest, for strange creatures creeped, crawled, and slithered through its depths.

Day 27- Coat

She tended to receive a multitude of strange looks when she wore her coat of arms. People questioned whether the coat was ethical or humane. They asked her where the arms came from. She didn't care. She felt fashionable.

Day 28- Ride

Cat was tired of riding his stupid old broom. He longed to be more like the bats he saw flying in the clouds. He made his own wings and pretended that he too could fly.

Day 29- Injured

The armless and injured gathered to protest the use of their arms for such frivolous fashion. A coat of arms, really!?

Day 30- Catch

Cat had seen Mouse scurrying around his house. He decided he was going to catch Mouse--he wanted a furry friend. His intentions were not malicious in the least, but Mouse was still quite taken aback!

Day 31- Ripe

Peach was feeling fine and it was halloween after all!! She called all her fruity friends to organize a juicy night out. She was feeling ripe and ready to partay.

Inktober 2019

I decided to participate in Inktober and followed the "official" prompt list.

I have found this to be a very helpful exercise. The prompts motivate me to draw every day and push me to think of clever illustrations for words that do not always inspire me.

I have also been striving to create small stories for my drawings and develop a few characters that pop up repeatedly in my work.
